Join France and Germany for a celebration of European friendship

Germany and France showcase their friendship and highlight the best of both countries at their shared Open House. This year, the German Embassy in Washington, DC, will host this popular annual event, where visitors can discover the food, culture, language and diplomatic life of two major European nations.

Family Fun

You’ll be entertained by German and French music as you sample the culinary specialties and signature beverages of both countries. Watch a slackline performance and test your own balancing skills. How much energy do you produce by riding a bike? Kid-friendly activities include face painting, balloon animals, coloring, and much more.

Learn and Win

Learn more about two of Europe’s biggest economies and their many ties to the US – ranging from honey bees to geothermal systems. Play games to test your language skills, take fun quizzes, puzzle your way to prizes as you learn. Special prizes again for soccer fans of all ages!

Say Cheese

Take pictures at the selfie stations where you can pose in front of your favorite German and French landmarks. Your friends will be surprised to see you in front of the Eiffel Tower and Neuschwanstein in a single day!
